From cleaning a tricky fridge panel to tightening up curb appeal, these small changes can make a big difference.
When getting a property ready for tenants or buyers, one thing is very important: small details matter, and you need to walk through and inspect everything. In this particular property, there was a water leak out front that needed an investigation, and the refrigerator—despite being cleaned—still had grime trapped under the glass shelf. It's a design flaw I've encountered before, and most cleaners are unaware of how to address it. However, here's the thing: issues like this, even if minor, tend to discourage tenants.
Make sure your home is truly ready. When a buyer or renter walks into a property, they notice more than they realize. A dusty porch, a sticky cabinet, or grass that needs trimming doesn't just register as clutter; it signals that somebody may not have maintained the home with care. Even if everything else looks good, these more minor details can cause people to second-guess the value of the home. One of the biggest mistakes I see is assuming the home is "fine" because nothing major is broken. The reality is that people want to feel like a home has been respected and looked after. They want to walk in and feel like they could move in tomorrow.
"It's the little things that matter—like cleaning the fridge or touching up paint."
Know what to fix and what to skip. Not everything needs to be perfect, but some things absolutely do need attention. The good news is that many of them are quick to fix. When it comes to cleaning refrigerators, it can get complicated depending on what type of refrigerator you have. For example, if you own a Samsung fridge, I understand how hard it is to clean. Even if you hire professional cleaners, they usually won’t know how to figure it out because it’s built with a terrible design, with clips that hold the glass. You need to remove the whole tray in order to remove the clips from below and clean the glass. (Check out how I do this in my video - just skip to 1:05) The same goes for scuffed paint, sticky cabinet doors, or a front yard that could use a quick cleanup.
Get expert help before you list. If you're unsure where to start, I'd be glad to walk the property with you. I'll help you identify what's worth fixing and what's likely to be overlooked. It's not about making everything perfect; it's about making sure your home feels ready.
